BIOCON® FLUID FILTER SYSTEMS FOR COOLING TOWERS

Scale: Now You See It...
Before: This calcite crystal, magnified 300,000 X under an electron microscope, shows limestone scale in untreated groundwater. The irregular edges catch and latch onto one another and the inside of pipe and plumbing to create scale.

Now you Don't
After: These calcite crystals, magnified 300,000 X, are in groundwater that has been filtered once through the KDF media. The crystals have been reshaped into small, even, rounded grains and rods that will not adhere to metallic surfaces. The solubility of water is also enhanced.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What's the payback on the system's cost?
This will vary according to the application, but most users find the system pays for itself within one to two years in significantly reduced operating, chemical, maintenance, and equipment costs.

How much maintenance is required?
The system is designed so that when properly installed, it will function independently.  Every system is equipped to automatically self-clean by backwashing.  Maintenance is minimal.

How much water does backwashing use?
The backwashing clock can cycle for up to an hour, but the actual amount of water used is 10 minutes per unit at 1.5 to 2 times the service rate.

How often is the media rebedded?
The media will likely need rebedding every three to five or more years, depending on various conditions.  Rebedding costs are generally less than 40% of the cost of chemical treatment.

Will the system increase water usage?
Actually, the system will reduce water usage because the treated water will have lower corrosivity and fewer cycles of concentration (three or less).
